The Basics

Full-day small-group and private Angkor Wat tours run from Siem Reap and take visitors around the complex; epic helicopter tours allow you to see the ruins from above; and sunrise or sunset tours are especially popular for the photo opportunities. Many also combine a visit to Angkor Wat with the Angkor National Museum, to learn more about the site’s history and significance. If visiting independently, you can pick up 1-, 3-, and 7-day passes for the archaeological park at the entrance.

Full Day Angkor Tour from sunrise by Tuk Tuk
We were picked up on time and our guide was excellent. We saw a beautiful sunrise then had breakfast at a small cafe opposite Angkor Watt before entering into the historical area. Our guide was charming and very knowledgable. We came away from Angkor Watt better informed and much more appreciative of this wonder of the world

We had a great tour. Our guide and driver were great and they looked after us well and did the tour at our pace. Really enjoyed the history and tomb raider temple in particular. Would really recommend doing a private tour in Angkor Watt with Son. Thanks again Paul and Yolande

Angkor Wat Private Tour in a Tuk Tuk
This is the only way to see the temples in Cambodia. Private Tuk Tuk. The price is great and the experience is unforgettable. Our guide was Phuy Phy and he was such a nice man. He was very knowledgeable about all of the temples. They had water on hand for us to drink and cold towelettes. Everything about this was a great experience. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering seeing Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. Best guide ever and best way to get around Cambodia.

Full-day Small-Group Angkor Wat Tour from Siem Reap with English Speaking Guide
We had small group of six. Tour was well organized and the guide gave us good information during the tour. We visited three temples - Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm Teple. Angkor Wat was impressive, but Bayon Temple was my favourate (a lot of character) They provided enough water during the tour.

Full-Day Angkor Wat Sunrise Private Tour with Guide
Sunrise at Angkor Wat is a phenomenal experience and especially when you have Samnang as your guide. His English was excellent and he shared a lot of information about all of the temples we visited. Sam also talked a lot about the Cambodian culture, economy, lifestyles, etc which was extremely helpful to us. He was an excellent guide and I highly recommend him and also the private tour.

2-Days Private Tour Discovery Angkor Wat , Waterfall and Beng Mealea Temple
Very worth it. The only recommendation I would make is a return visit to Angkor Wat at sunset. We arrived a Angkor Wat about 1 hour before sunrise. It was wonderful to see it slowly come into view. But, you should also see Angkor Wat at sunset.

Love the arrangement of this tour which take you to enjoy both sunrise and sunset at Angkor Wat. The itinerary of our tour was very well planned. We didn't feel crowded most of the time and was able to take beautiful pictures without a lot of people around. Highly recommend this tour!

Half Day Join-In Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour by Minibus
From pick up to drop off, our guide Mr YOUK was ever attentive, ever smiling and throughout the tour exhibited indepth knowledge of the Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, and Bayon. He patiently answered our queries and most times with a dash of humour making the tour a delightfully unhurried and " free and easy " one .Thank you Mr. YOUK and wishing you every success!

Angkor Wat Experience Two Days
Angkor Wat and the surrounding ruins are already spectacular and fascinating, but a knowledgeable guide like the one I had brings these ruins to life with fantastic stories of how the temples were built and what the countless inscriptions on their facades mean. A very satisfying tour which covers all the major landmarks and experiences.

Angkor’s Finest Examples in Brief
Great private tour of some of the amazing sights at Angkor Wat. Able to avoid the crowds and time to explore on our own. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The lunch was also beautiful. Highly recommend.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Angkor Wat is Cambodia’s most popular attraction, which makes for large crowds; book your tour in advance to guarantee entry.

  • Angkor Wat is a sacred site for Khmer people, and visitors should dress modestly—to visit the top tier, you must have your upper arms and thighs covered.

  • At any given time, a limited number of visitors are allowed to ascend to the top tier for views of the surrounding landscape.

  • A lawn in the outer ring has two free-standing roofless libraries that serve as peaceful places to escape the inevitable crowds.

  • All visitors enter through the west-facing main entrance; from here, the five inner and four outer towers serve as orientation points.

  • Angkor Watt is not wheelchair accessible.

When to Get There

Peak season at Angkor Wat is between November and February, when cool, dry weather makes for a pleasant visit. Huge crowds gather in the early morning to capture photos of the sun rising over the temple and its reflection in the site’s long pools. To beat the crowds, visit other temples first and save Angkor Wat for midday or try sunset instead.

Exploring the Angkor Temples

The ancient temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park can take days to explore, but highlights include the masterpiece Angkor Wat; Ta Prohm, where banyan tree roots encroach on crumbling structures; the South Gate of Angkor Thom; the Bayon Temple, where ancient smiling stone faces sit atop high towers; and the high wall at the Terrace of the Leper King. Visitors with more time can also see further-flung sites like the pink stone temple of Banteay Srei, dating to the 10th century, or take a boat ride on Tonle Sap lake.
