The trip had a good and varied selection of sites outside the Cardiff area. The guide was accommodating and extremely knowledgeable about the area as well as the history. It was a small group tour which made it more personalized.
Even if you only have limited time in Wales, you can make the most of it with this guided tour that ensures you see the best of the country in just one day. Visit a Norman castle, travel through the mountains to an ancient standing stone, hike to a waterfall, and see one of Wales' most beautiful beaches.
Great beaches, food, rubgy drama, and conversation
, Feb 2020
Gareth was very communicative and punctual and the process was very smooth. I liked that he gave us some specialty pastry at the start of the trip. He is the man to talk to if you want to understand the history and contemporary issues of South Wales. There was a 2 hour window for us to do whatever the heck we liked in the Mumbles, and by fantastic coincidence the big rugby game was on in all the bars. The walk to the falls goes over muddy ground, so do not come with your fanciest shoes.
I suggest the online listings (TripAdvisor and Viator) to be updated so that only the destinations near Swansea are included, not the ones in South-East Wales.
I had a fabulous time touring the castles in Wales. Gareth took us to some beautiful places including Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey. He gave us ample time to walk around and explore. I loved it and would book another trip within him again.
There's no better way to explore South Wales than in the company of a historian, and native Welsh speaker, who is passionate about the country. This tour, which provides a deeper insight into Welsh culture than any other, takes you to neolithic sites, Roman ruins, Norman castles, and into the atmospheric valleys that have so inspired Welsh culture.
Our driver was nice and so was his vehicle. We gave it three stars because it was advertised as a private tour that was mythical and there was another family in the van and there wasn't anything about it that was mythical. We basically just had a shared transportation service.
I went on tour with Garreth. He was a great tour guide and taught me a lot about Wales. I got the chance to see a lot of Wales in a day. I would definitely book a tour with him for one of his other tours.

Our tour with Andy exceeded any expectation we thought we had. It was a wonderful day out from cardiff, which started off with a scenic drive into the country. We spent a few hours walking through the Brecon Beacons and were lucky with the weather ! Andy encouraged us and shared stories behind the names of the waterfalls. We enjoyed traditional Welsh shortbread beside the waterfalls.
Myself and my mum would highly recommend this tour - go and chase some waterfalls !

Our Wye Valley tour was a very positive experience from beginning to end. Our guide provided indepth background information about the places we visited as well as some good-natured humor. The bus was comfortable and the guide was an excellent driver.
The Wye Valley is a landscape of ancient ruins and spectacular scenery, but organizing transportation to explore the remote hillsides independently from Cardiff cuts into valuable sightseeing time. Walk the beautiful River Wye Valley to Tintern Abbey
Fun Day of Hiking!
, Oct 2019
Andy was really nice, fun to hike with. It was uphill for the first half of the hike, so be prepared for that! He gave me plenty of time to visit Tintern Abbey after the hike, which was gorgeous. I would recommend this to fit travelers who want some nature in their adventures.
Tintern Abbey is widely considered the jewel in the crown of the beautiful Wye Valley, and there’s no better way to reach it than on foot. On this tour, begin with pickup at your Cardiff or Newport hotel and spin into the Wye Valley by air-conditioned vehicle. Follow your guide along winding hiking trails along the banks of the River Wye, and admire uninterrupted views over historic Tintern Abbey.
Walk, listen, and enjoy...Gillian was spectacular.
, Jan 2020
Gillian was a genuine dream! Right on time, well prepared, extremely friendly. My wife and I could not be any more pleased ‼️
We heard all the little background stores and history of the area, and the makings of Cardiff. We had s pleasant walk, not hurried, and allowing for questions, and recommendations for things we did not have time to do on this tour, as well as restaurants not to miss.
One of the best highlights was having afternoon high tea on the castle grounds. Too much to enjoy, and happy to have leftovers for our evening enjoyments.
Gillian was fantastic. You could tell she loved her city and country very much. She was very knowledgeable about the history past and present for the area. She know the back ways and places to visit. She had our time with her planned out as to not waste one minute. When we went into the markets she bought us a "welsh cake" to try which as delicious and very kind of her. She took us to a fun little shop where they make hand carved "Welch love spoons". We purchased on for us and our soon to be married daughter. They will engrave for free there, so it was a great suggestion for a souvenir. I highly recommend this tour and Gillian.
