Cai Rang Floating Market & Mekong Delta 2-Day Tour
Guide, Duc and don't call him him Duck was good. The floating market was not what I had expected as I was thinking it would be like the floating market just out of Bangkok Thailand.

Full-day Cai Rang floating market - explore countryside, make bakery - from HCM
Great day tour with Dao, she is knowledgeable, engaging and funny. Departure and return to HCM a big plus. Early start very much worthwhile to reach the Cai Rang market early (and get a hearty Hu Tieu serving for breakfast!) and have a full day visiting temples, a fish farm, and other local sites. Visit to countryside is an enjoyable change of pace to the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Highly recommend!

Cai Rang Floating Market Day Trip from Ho Chi Minh City
It’s a long day at around 15 hrs - but you get to cram 2 days worth of tour into one. The itinerary has a lot of elements and moving parts and each was coordinated to perfection. Our guide was great, and I felt a personal touch on everything as we did our best to beat the crowds most places. Great experience and fully recommend it.

A magical day on the delta

Cai Rang Floating Market Day Trip from Ho Chi Minh City
We had a fantastic day with Mr Le (Nick). He was super informative and friendly and we saw so many interesting things including a pagoda in the delta that was built and used by the Khymer people- it was breathtaking! We couldn't have asked for a more packed, more wonderful day! What made it was the people. When I stupidly dropped my phone into the delta, Mr Le organised for a local man to dive in an find it- he did and it was completely unharmed! I cant believe they did that, it was unbelievably kind! Would absolutely reccomend this tour to anyone!

Cai Rang Floating market and Cycling in the village
We had the luck to have li ly as an guide. She is very friendly and could answer all our questions about the Tour and Vietnam in general. Her english is very good and its fun to spend time with her. We visited the swimming market, had Breakfast on the Boat. Whe reveived several selfmade presents from her and our bist drive which was very skilled. After that we took a Strol with the Bike through some authentic smal vilages. And Made some rice noodles there. Then we drove back through small canals. It was definitly worth to get up early :)

Cai Rang floating market and biking on Cai Be town full day private tour
The tour was pretty amazing, we were quite sceptical of the price at first as there were many other tours a lot cheaper, however this is a completely private tour of both the floating market (at peak time) and Ben Tre coconut forests along with the obvious row boat along the mekong plantations with hat included. It is worth it as there are many other interesting things to see in between that are not mentioned on itinerary...with lots tastings/samples. The endless amounts of fruit and shot of snake venom spirit was a particular highlight. Our quide Phong was fantastic and very enthusiastic about is job and no question went unanswered, even with an hours delay d/t traffic he still made sure we saw everything.....ask for him would be my advise.

Cai Rang floating market and biking on Cai Be town full day private tour
All in all the tour was fun. The Cai Rang floating market part was great and is highly recommended even if it is a long drive to get there. The Ben Tre part was much more touristy and fun but not outstanding. The cycling was not nearly the 15 km advertised must have been more like 2-3 km, there was no coconut tree climbing, no pottery shop etc. Also the ride in the Sampan was very short must have been 10 minutes. The guides English could have been better, although he was very nice. Altogether still recommended especially because of the Cai Rang part which very few other tours offer.

Amazing tour guide and awesome 2 day adventure

Cai Rang Floating Market & Mekong Delta 2-Day Tour
We had a group of 4 and were able to do so much in 2 days. We went on the Mekong Delta, visited an island where we tasted some great tropical fruits and visited a bee sanctuary. After that we went to Ben Tre for lunch, where we also got to see a coconut making factory. We ended our day in Can Tho and our tour guide Vu took us out for some vietnamese hot pot and grilled beef. Although this was not included in the tour, Vu was friendly enough to take us around the city at night to explore the market and the bridge. The next day we went to the floating market and got to see where they make Hu Tieu noodles, which is a rice and tapioca mixed noodle. After that we stopped for some lunch (not included in the tour) and went back to Saigon. We highly suggest this for anyone who will be going to Southern Vietnam.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Cai Rang Floating Market is a must-see for visitors in the Mekong Delta.

  • Bring plenty of sunscreen as shade is rare when exploring the outdoor market.

  • Southern Vietnam is prone to sudden downpours, so an umbrella and raincoat are useful at any time of year.

  • Bring plenty of smaller bills if you’re planning to purchase goods as vendors rarely have change.

How to Get There

By road from Ho Chi Minh City, the journey to Cai Rang Floating Market takes around 3.5 hours depending on traffic. Most travelers visit the market by boat from the Mekong Delta town of Can Tho, 45 minutes away. If not arriving as part of an organized tour, get a boat from the market area in Can Tho or drive to the Cau Dau Sau pier and take a boat the last 10 minutes from there.

When to Get There

The Cai Rang Floating Market is at its best between 6am and 8am. Cai Rang Bridge is a great spot for taking photos, and going earlier will mean capturing the busyness of the market before it is overcrowded with day-trippers.

Feast Your Senses at the Floating Market

Cai Rang Floating Market gives visitors the chance to sample exotic produce they may never even have heard of. Adventurous travelers can try mangosteens, recognizable by a deep purple exterior; durian, a fruit so pungent that many hotels ban guests bringing it inside; and coconut candy, a prize Mekong Delta export.
