Phuket Botanic Garden Tours and Activities

Opening its doors in 2012, the Phuket Botanic Garden offers a collection of rare and exotic plants, with everything from tropical palms to colorful orchids, presented over a series of 12 landscaped gardens. Highlights of the small garden include the paddy field and the koi pond, where visitors can purchase pellets and feed the fish.
The Basics
Visitors to the botanic garden can explore the tropical fruit orchard, orchid pavilion, Japanese garden, cactus garden, and more. Learn about medicinal plants in the herb garden, discover traditional farming techniques at the rice paddy, and cool off beneath a man-made waterfall in the rain forest. Additional features include a small butterfly garden, water lily ponds, an indoor winter garden, and a koi pond.
Things to Know Before You Go
How to Get There
The Phuket Botanic Garden is located in the Chalong area, about a 15-minute drive southwest of Phuket town. There is no public transport to the garden, but it’s easily reached by taxi or tuk-tuk.
When to Get There
The gardens are open every day except Wednesday. As most of the gardens are outdoors, plan an early morning or late afternoon visit if you want to avoid the midday heat.
Wildlife Attractions in Phuket
The botanical gardens are one of several natural and wildlife attractions in Phuket. The Phuket Orchid Garden is also home to a Thai Village with handicraft shops and cultural performances. Near the botanical gardens, Phuket Zoo houses elephants, monkeys, and crocodiles, and Phuket Bird Park has exotic birds including African crowned cranes, colorful parrots, and ostriches. A large variety of tropical fish and sea creatures, including sharks and sea turtles, live at the Phuket Aquarium.
