Meet your guide and small group of no more than 15 people in central Amsterdam in time for departure. Set out to explore the city’s historic Jewish Quarter on foot, stopping to admire landmarks such as the Jewish Historical Museum and the Portuguese Synagogue.

Along the way, learn more about Amsterdam’s troubled past, as you hear about the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands between 1940 and 1945, and the effects of the brutal regime not only on the Jewish community but on the everyday lives of all those living in Amsterdam. See the head office of the Jewish council and hear about key events such as the Winter of Hunger and the February Strike as you pass monuments like the Dokwerker and the Auschwitz Monument.

You’ll also learn more about the Dutch resistance and how they offered secret hiding places to families like the Franks. Your tour ends outside the Anne Frank House, where you’ll learn more about her now-legendary diaries and how they came to be published by her father Otto Frank. Entrance to the museum is not included, but you can opt to visit independently after the tour.

We all really enjoyed this tour and learned so much about the Nazi occupation, the Dutch resistance and the horrific consequences for the Jews in Amsterdam. Later in the day we toured the Anne Frank home and felt the walking tour gave us great insights and information. I highly recommend this tour.

Very informative. Our guide Daniel was great. Very educational walk. Unfortunately we were not able to get tickets to go inside the house so this was the second best. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Although this is billed as a “Anne Frank” tour, it was more about the Jewish experience in Amsterdam focused on the period of the Nazi occupation and the Holocaust tragedy. The tour was very informative and would highly recommend it.

We had the wonderful Alec as a guide through the streets of Amsterdam in what was quite a memorable journey in time! Alec is a master storyteller and you not only got to know the where and when's, but also personal stories the leave you feeling you were there. His knowledge and insight made it not only a walking tour, but a valuable history lesson !
