Departure Time

7:00 AM
Your tour begins with pickup from Da Nang Port and a scenic drive to the nearby Marble Mountains. Enjoy views of the five marble and limestone peaks, and explore the caves, temples, and viewpoints dotted around the mountains. At the foot of the mountains, pay a visit to the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, where you’ll have chance to admire the traditional crafts and perhaps purchase some unique souvenirs.

After lunch (included) at a local restaurant, continue to Hoi An and set out on a walking tour of the UNESCO-listed historic center. Hear how the seafront town was once an important Vietnamese port, admire the colonial architecture dating back as early as the 16th century, and stop at landmarks such as Tan Ky Old House, Fu Jian Assembly Hall, and the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge.

Finally, discover Hoi An’s thriving textile industry as you visit crafts workshops, watch a demonstration of silk spinning, and browse the stalls at the lively local market.

Your tour ends with drop-off at Da Nang port in time for your cruise ship departure.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Da Nang
Pick up at the port, the driver will take you to the Marble Mountains (Vietnamese: Ngu Hanh Son; literally "five elements mountains") is a popular sightseeing location in Da Nang because of its alluring beauty. Stone steps carved into the mountain lead to a Buddhist Pagoda. You can also discover the stunning caves and enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. Upon arrival to the mountain, we will climb up the stone stairs and visit the caves and pagodas as well as admire the beautiful panoramic view. Next, you will go to Am Phu Cave where there's a replica of heaven and hell, eerie underground tunnels while listening the clapping of bats' wings in the cave. You will then go to visit Linh Ung Pagoda. Built under the reign of King Minh Mang in the Nguyen Dynasty (the 19th century), legend has it a Buddhist statue drifted downstream to the area and got anchored at a sandy embankment. Have lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will discover the city of Hoi An on foot. The historic town, which used to be a prosperous seaport city from the 16th to 18th century, is now a beautiful city that cannot be missed while touring the Southeast Asian region. While walking through the city, we will make a few stops to visit Hoi An Museum, many of the town’s renowned Ancient Houses which boast remarkable architecture, Assembly Halls of Chinese influence; Art Craft Manufacturing Workshop and of course the must-see Japanese Covered Bridge. These spots are considered as typical architecture styles in Hoi An and reflect clearly the cross culture among France, Japan, China and Vietnam… Passing over hundreds of year and withstanding the severity of the weather, Hoi An still exists and keeps the ancient and quiet beauty. Go back to the cruise.

The tour is advertised as 11 hours, however our guide brought us back after 8. The tour included a brief stop at Da Nang beach and then monkey mountain to see an awesome temple, pagoda and the Lady Buddha. From the top of the mountain you get a good view of the city. From this mountain, we spent 45 minutes at a marble factory. Although there was 1 carver, the primary purpose of the stop was to purchase some very expense merchandise. Marble mountain is incredible. There are approx. 152 uneven, steep and large steps to climb. The caves are amazing and worth the effort. Take lots of water and make sure you take breaks as you are climbing. The tour company TOTALLY mixed up our lunch so 2 of the 3 people in the group were very hungry. At Hoi An you do lots of walking between the 5 stops. The silk making factory was very interesting, as you see each step of the silk production. Of course, there is lots of time to see the show rooms and purchase the goods. It would have been nice to have spent more time in this historic site and to take more pictures.

Marble Mountain is amazing. Lots of steps but worth it. The stop at the marble factory, not so much, unless you really need a large carved Buddha or dolphin for your garden or home. Hoi An is also fascinating and worth a visit. So worth a visit that we were frustrated by how little time we were able to spend there. Everyone wanted more time for shopping. Nonetheless we had a great time.

This was a really good day. Our guide Key. Was excellent and we were taken to all the good sites. Unfortunately the rain got in the way a bit, but it stopped in time for us to see the Lady Buddha. Lunch was excellent. Well worth the money.

Great day out made even more memorable by our friendly, enthusiastic and caring tour guide, Nee, who went out of her way to make the day special with excellent spoken English and local knowledge. We could not have fitted more into the day with the taxi driver being readily available by phone to pick us up and drop us off whenever needed. The lower cost and individual attention made this excursion much better than anything offered by the cruise line. Friends on the ship were amazed with all we managed to fit in during the day. Many thanks Nee and Vaitor for a brilliant day.
