Our day with Mr. Sak was fabulous. He is very knowledgeable and communicates well. His sense of humor, along with his authenticity, made our day with Mr. Sak the best tour we experienced. Thank you. Chica and Joey Fawcett, USA

Booked for 4 people but two cars, two drivers and two guides, so had to pay two lots of fuel, 4 extra dinners and double the tips You are better off just doing the Hill top tribe tour as you have to pay to get in any way 500 Baths per person. The other two villages we were taken to and the lunch , not really worth it.

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Thank for your comments. To explain, we initially had planned for all 4 of you to travel in one car, but then thought that it would be much more comfortable for you to travel in two cars. As we picked you up from a 4star resort, we thought it would be important to provide comfort. Travelling in 2 cars, means much more legroom and as some of the ride is off-road, it can be a bit bumpy at the back row (we wanted to avoid this). So we thought for your all-round comfort it would be much better to travel in 2 cars. We thought that the additional cost of petrol and lunch for 2 members of staff (where the average cost of lunch is approx $1.6usd/head), would not be an issue. As these additional costs are very minor compared to the total cost of the trip. I'm sorry that you felt the lunch and other villages were not really worth it. As most of the guests love the local food and have a very authentic and cultural experience in the non-tourist villages we visit. Thank you for travelling with us, and your feedback.

One of the worst tour I experienced...

One of the worst tour I experienced so far. 1 The 4 wheel drive for 4 pax plus guide and driver is 6 pax was sooooo damm uncomfortable. car was dirty. The last row got no room for legs and so dammmmmm bumpy. At last, I cannot stand it anymore, told the guide one of us will take the seat next to the driver and another one will squeeze on the center row. Ask the tour guide to sit the last row. Guess what.....HE VOMMITED. That shows how torturing we experienced. 2 We NEVER get to see the village if we have not paid extra to 500 baht per head to go the the village that has the long neck ladies, this trip is really nothing. Travelled for 3 hours on bumpy non-tar road to see 10 people planting padi which is meaningless. we were not brief by them what is next. 3 the paid 500 baht per head to go and see the famous long neck was good . This tour should just go to this villlage and that is it. the Full day authentic Hill Tribe to see padi field is a waste of time and money. 4 IT IS A GREAT MISTAKE THAT I BOOKED THIS TOUR. IF not of the extra paid trip, it is nothing but TORTURE.

We fortunately took the time to go...

We fortunately took the time to go to the paid village, which others describe as a tourist trap. We did not feel that way at all. We did get to experience up-close the various hill tribe people and their cultures. If we had only done the individual villages, we would have been disappointed because in their day to day, they do not dress in traditional clothing, they wear modern day clothing. Our guide Sak was very knowledgeable and his English was quite good. Would recommend this tour, but if you really want to learn about the different tribes, do NOT pass up the paid village part of the tour.

We wanted to do this tour to see the longneckers and the big ears Karen people. Initially we booked this tour for the 18th, but it couldn't be done for some reason. So, we re-booked for the 19th and got lucky with our native Karen tribe guide Sak. He was very knowledgeable about the local customs and local tribes. It did take a while to get from Chiang Mai to the hills, but the minibus was quite comfortable. We visited a Karen village and a Hmong village. All along there was a little hike here and there to visit some native houses and sample the local fruits and vegetables. Sak knew exactly what was edible and we got to try mulberry and tamarind fresh off the trees. Yummy!!! Lunch was at a local restaurant where we paid for the guide's and driver's food. Actually quite cheap-- about 8 for 4 people!! Then we went to Baan Tong Luang village to see many hill tribes in one place. Yes, it is catered to tourists and you have to pay a small admission fee. It was quite pleasant as all of them were very accommodating about having their pictures taken-- with or without you. Then you can buy some handicrafts from the local people to help them. All in all a long day but full of culture!!

This was a truly fantastic tour. Very educational, enjoyable, and interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to teach us about the history of Thailand's Hill Tribes and how they're living today. He put a lot of effort into the tour and it made for a great day for the whole family. We really enjoyed it, and we would recommend it to anyone!
