Meet your guide in city center and board a top-of-the-range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach for the drive into the Scottish Lowlands. As you travel west, listen as your guide shares fascinating information about Scotland’s most famous drink—many centuries ago called the ‘water of life’ and used as a health tonic. Hear about the high standard of whisky-production that has made Scotland a premier global producer.

North of Glasgow, stop at Glengoyne Distillery in Dumgoyne. Renowned for its distillation process—one of the slowest in the world—Glengoyne makes a masterful art of whisky-making. Tour the grounds, learn about the complex production process and enjoy samples of rich 12- and 18-year old products.

Then head into Trossachs National Park for a beautiful scenic drive through forest-covered terrain and dramatic mountain peaks. Stop near Loch Lomond for a hearty pub lunch (own expense)—good for balancing out a day of whisky tasting.

Afterward, head to Deanston Distillery, situated in a converted cotton mill on the River Teith. Repurposing the mill’s original hydroelectric generators, Deanston is notably the most environmentally friendly distillery in Scotland. A very nice experience from start to finish. The day started impeccably, as Rabbie's Tours has you check in at their own cafe, where coffee and breakfast to prepare you for the day are available and delicious. The bus of 16 seats comfortably accommodated the 12 people on the tour and I had two seats to myself. Not surprisingly, the scenery the entire day was beautiful and Angus's commentary was well balanced to be interesting, entertaining, but not overwhelming. Both distilleries provided nice experiences with competent tour guides of their own and beautiful settings. I highly recommend this trip and at the price point I paid, consider it a bargain.

My rating for this trip would have been higher if a visit to Deanston Distillery had not been included. For the same reason I would have gladly recommended your tours to friends / family. To see why, see my review of their Distillery via Google Maps. After I had expressed my views to the tour guide and she had left us, another member of our group gave me a fist bump, so my thoughts had NOT been out of line as far as he (and maybe others) had thought. When the driver, Stephen, told us of our route back to Edinburgh, I asked if we would be going past The Kelpies again and, if so, could he give us some notice of reaching them. He did and I got a good close up video of them (shortened from 58 to 12 seconds long) prior to me seeing them tomorrow with a different tour company. Despite my troublesome legs I would gladly visit Glengoyne again, where I do not think the workers wore face masks. I cannot recall if I saw any or not at Deanston. The "requirement" for us to wear face masks at Deanston has apparently not been a requirement for a month and a half. Only the last photo was raken at The Deanston Distillery. Good choice of location for lunch.

Dougie is a fantastic guide, as engaging and friendly as he is knowledgeable. He happily told us about local music, history and prehistory. The whiskey stops were good, Glengoyne and Deanston both make good whiskies, though we enjoyed the former more. The time was a bit compressed, just due to the amount of ground we covered... it was a busy day!

Nick our driver & tour guide was top notch amazing, we loved him. He was cheerful, funny, professional and engaging. Nick was very knowledgeable and shared many stories about Scotland with us along with beautiful Scottish music - which we really enjoyed. We stopped for lunch at Loch Lomond at the Oak Tree Inn, the food and service were amazing. The Glengoyne Distillery was beautiful and the staff were professional, it was a nice sit down tasting with lots of interesting information and of course a detailed tour of the distillery. Deanston was a quick stand up tasting that felt rushed, but we are living in unprecedented times with COVID. Driving through the countryside was beautiful and Nick the driver makes plenty of restroom stops and is an excellent driver, the air conditioned bus was perfect for a warm summers day. This is a great trip and we would take it again, well done Viator!!

Had nice breakfast at cafe ,picked up on time great host Al .As natives we still learnt heaps from our historian host ,highly recommend Glengoyne I bought a few bottles ,as for deanston we couldn't taste it as measures tiny ! Needless to say didn't purchase .Excellent lunch in Balmaha.

My wife and I had a great time joining the tour on Dec 20 - warm & welcoming walk-through at the long-standing Glengoyne, very informative behind-the-scene tour at Deanston, quick detour to a nearby castle, casual lunch in a little serene town, and most importantly great time with our friendly guide Grant. He shared lots of history and context for both whisky and Scotland overall, and tips when enjoying whisky. We would be keen to join his longer tours next time - highly recommended if you have a full day in Edinburgh!

My wife and I took this tour to check out the Scottish Distillery experience. The tour included visits to two very different distilleries and an opportunity to take a nice nature walk on Loch Lomond. We enjoyed the tour and the tastings, despite the fact that there was a good amount of riding in the vehicle to get to the locations. The driver/guide, William, was very good and provided good context to the visit. It was an enjoyable day and a good value for the cost.
