Start your culinary tour at a hidden coffee shop where you can enjoy a welcome drink and enjoy the cozy atmosphere created by plastic bottles that have been turned into pieces of art.

Inhale the aromatic scents exuding from street hawker stalls and follow your nose to stands replete with exotic fruits and fresh seafood. Listen as you guide explains the culinary context of the city and hear about the cultural significance of local specialties.

Eat as you go sampling delicious seasonal fruits and a local doughnut, learning about the local family that makes them. Then head to a food stall to taste bun dau met noodles and bun cha, a grilled pork and noodle dish.

Continue on to Lo Ren Street where you can sample the famous banh mi sandwiches, a Vietnamese baguette with a variety of fillings.

Walk through the winding streets of the Old Quater and enjoy the famous banh cuon dish the originates in Hanoi. Watch chefs put together this tasty dish and then continue through the maze of streets to observe local life.

Sit down and chat with locals over a cup of bia hoi—Vietnamese draft beer—before wandering around the Hanoi train track trails.

Grab a seat in a secret café famed for its spectacular views over Hoan Kiem Lake. Sip the local specialty of egg coffee and bid your guide and group farewell in this ambient establishment.
Stop At:
Hidden Gem Coffee - Quán Cà Phê Tái Chế
We will meet our guide and have a welcome drink there. Then stroll through hidden alleyways and visit the city’s local market, Hang Be. Along the perimeter of the market, dozens of street hawkers sell a staggering variety of produce from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices.

Stop At:
Old Quarter
We eat as we go, trying seasonal fruits and sampling a tasty local doughnut where you have chance to learn the process how the local family make doughnut including sweet and savory ones. Our next two snack stops on our Hanoi street food tour are at food stalls of Bun Dau Met/Bun Cha. We sit down with the Hanoi locals and sample a real experience of local eating “mam tom” – shrimp paste. We can have “nuoc mam” – fish source instead.  Next street is Lo Ren which like many others in Hanoi’s old quarter and its name also represents the trade craft of iron, from here we will stop for sampling Banh Mi, a tasty Vietnamese baguette  with many different choices   Walking through the maze of bustling streets that make up Hanoi’s Old Quarter, we tempt our tastebuds with the famed Hanoi dish banh cuon at a local eatery. Watch in awe as the skilled chefs demonstrate for you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing into the atmospheric heart of the Old Quarter, we wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can observe local life that has changed little since Hanoi was founded over 1,000 years ago.  Now, it's time for a cup of Bia Hoi while we sit down and mingle with locals. This specialty is one not to be missed.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At:
Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street
Your local guide will then take you to one of Hanoi’s best kept secrets, a hidden café with stunning views over the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake. This hard-to-find café is one of the few left in the city that still serves egg coffee, a scrumptious local delicacy that we will sample whilst admiring the hustle and bustle of the city centre below. Or, if coffee is not your style, a cold beer awaits!

Highly recommended!

A great start to our holiday in VIetnam! Our guide, Lee, introduced us to a variety of Vietnamese food and beverages and we finished the tour totally satisfied with the experience. The walking was easy going and Lee showed us areas of the old quarter that we would never have ventured into ourselves.
Lovely tour of local foods!

My tour guide, Kim, was friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure our big group felt comfortable, and talked with us very easily. Would definitely recommend this tour if you want to learn more about the classic Hanoi food!

We did this tour the first day we arrived. Well worth it. We did 7 stops leisurely evening with a group of 8 people. Chin very knowledgeable. Make a note of what you liked and where it was located because you will never remember where it was.

The food tour was excellent! A lot of walking but Daisy was very knowledgeable about the old quarter and Hanoi. We stopped at about 6 places. Great introduction to Vietnamese food!
Interesting and enjoyable

A taster of typical Vietnamese food. Perhaps not the more unusual street food that we expected. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us interesting parts of Hanoi that we would not have found ourselves.
interesting downtown tour
, Apr 2019
This walking tour is more a way to visit the downtown part of Hanoi than really culinary. I did not find any of the food "so" original if I compare it to something equivalent in either Singapore or Paris. We discover interesting back alleys and shops but no great culinary revolution.
It was okay

Decided to do the street food tour first day in Hanoi as the same tour in Saigon was so good . This one wasn’t as good , not so good food and guide okay .

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour. We stayed at a hotel only for one night in Hanoi. The guide was informative and helpful, and so we have known about Hanoi much better in a couple of hours.
Great tour guide

Our guide was great, although there was too much walking and with a bigger group of people, often hard to hear him.
What a great experience!

We started our trip with this food tour so that we could revisit foods we enjoyed. San was an amazing tour guide. Very clear, made sure we didn’t get left behind and made extra efforts to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Would strongly recommend! An amazing experience
