We loved both the ride...

We loved both the ride with Alana (sp?) and the Jacobite train ride! The stops were nice, but a little short. Alana made the bus ride informative without being cheezy. Plus she even recommended a great place to grab dinner back in Inverness. The whole experience was great. Long day, but worth it!

Guide - no BUS

The tour guide arrived with no bus for the tour! There should have been s backup bus. There was a rail strike in Scotland, but should have not effected the tour. We did receive a refund from the tour company. We were disappointed to have missed the experience because of a broken bus.

So bummed that our tour happened to be on the same week that the national rail strike was happening so we weren’t able to ride the train, BUT our tour guide Alana was absolutely amazing and we still had a great time anyway. Made lots of different stops and learned a lot about Inverness and Scottish history. Our guide was super knowledgeable, chill, and really friendly! We had a lovely time.

Best part of the trip was definitely riding the train. We had bad weather, which put a damper on it, but it was still fun. Train is old and not heated, if you're going when cold, dress in layers. Lots of picture opportunities. See the other parts of the Scottish Highlands was definitely worth the long day. It is a 12 hour tour so be ready. Loved seeing the other parts of the Harry Potter filing locations. Be aware, there were nasty bugs while waiting under the viaduct, we all got bitten alive. Bring bug spray. We are a family of 4 with 2 daughters, ages 20 & 18 whole love Harry Potter. Did not give it 5 stars due to some of the stops not having food/shops open on a Monday and there was no warning. It's definitely a 4.5.

Loved the train ride. Watching the train come through Glenfinnan was magnificent. Our tour guide, Fraser Duff, was spectacular. Super friendly, outgoing, kind and considerate of everyone, helpful, educational and all around entertaining. I would go on any tour that he guides for a great all around experience.

An Inner Child’s Dream Come True

My mom and I loved this tour, and getting to see the Hogwarts Express race across the Glenfinnan Viaduct in the rain was what my 11 year old inner child always dreamed of seeing - truly magical! One thing to note- make sure to get off the train at the Glenfinnan stop (they make a 20 minute stop there) because this is where some Harry Potter scenes were filmed! The train ride is charming and you can even buy some sweets off the trolley! Great for adults and kids!

An unforgettable experience in the Scottish Highlands

Had an excellent trip to the Scottish Highlands from Inverness. Our guide Alana was so very courteous, helpful and she guided excellently. The drive from Inverness to Fort William was great skirting Loch Ness initially. The high point was the taking the Jacobite steam train from Fort William to Mallaig. The scenery was great all along passing glens, straths and finally the ocean when approaching Mallaig. Alana gave excellent info and instructions on the train journey beforehand. On our return we stopped at Glenfinnan to see the steam train passing over the world-famous viaduct. The view of the train passing over the viaduct was magnificent. Finally we took an old road going round Loch Ness from Fort Augustus and reached Inverness. En route we had excellent views of glens and Loch Ness and visited the Flores Falls and Dores beach by the Loch. This trip is strongly recommended to all those wish to see the beautiful Scottish highlands and experience the Jacobite steam train.

The Hogwarts Express tour was outstanding, due in a large part to the guide. Mind you, the scenery is amazing in it's own right, but our guide added so much to the experience.

It was a very nice day. Our tourguide Alana had everything well under control and we had enough time for the individual destinations. We had reserved seats on the train.

As an FYI, during dry periods, the steam train doesn’t run due to the risk of starting fires. However, the trip was still a great day. Our tour guide, Alana, was terrific and even brought a cake and candle to celebrate my husband’s Birthday.

Amazing day - but short stop at Glenfinnan
Mariya_O
, May 2022
This was one of most scenic tours I have ever been on, it’s a long day but well worth it and absolutely incredible. The train wasn’t pulled by a steam engine the day we went (fire risk) but the tour company couldn’t have done anything about that. The tour guide was awesome and the journey itself was amazing. However I give this four stars because the stop where you watch the train go by Glenfinnan viaduct needs to be at least 20-30 mins longer. It is a big area with a LOT to see in two different directions. There are a couple of viewpoints to watch the train go past which are about a 10 min hike each way, you need a few mins to take photos, and the train can run late(and it was in our case, it passed at our suggested departure time). We were only given enough time to see the train but there is also a Gothic Church and Loch Shiel in the other direction, which is a spectacular MUST-SEE lake from the Harry Potter movies for any HP fan (it’s where Hogwarts is!) . We wanted to also see the lake so the Glenfinnan stop ended up feeling v rushed and stressful. We had to sprint to the bus to make it back. If you are given 45 mins there like we were just bear in mind that it isn’t enough time to see everything but I would probably start with the lake and head to the viaduct afterwards. The best viewpoint is the one at the top.
