Overview

No visit to England would be complete without experiencing quintessential traditions such as the Changing of the Guard. See British culture come to life from select prime vantage points. In a small group limited to 15, observe the Queen’s iconic foot guards, clad in red tunics and bearskin hats, and watch the household cavalry put on an impressive display. Follow history-rich guide commentary with ease using a headset.
  • Watch the royal performance from select vantage points only known to experts
  • Witness the Queen’s iconic foot soldiers clad in red tunics and bearskin hats
  • Admire the precision and gleaming coats of the household cavalry
  • Listen to history-rich commentary with ease using a personal headset
Your regal tour begins at the Duke of York Column, located in St. James’, where you greet your guide, don a personal headset, and receive a historical overview of the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

Many tourists make the mistake of viewing the ceremony outside of Buckingham Palace. However, on this tour, handpicked vantage points ensure you get the best views of the royal tradition while listening to commentary that explains each part of the performance.

Marvel at the shimmering coats of the household cavalry as their riders control the horses with expert precision; capture photographs of the iconic red and black attire of the Queen’s foot soldiers; and, move quickly between vantage points in a small group of only 15 people.

Your tour concludes outside of Buckingham Palace.

Please note: The Changing of the Guard ceremony is subject to changes in date, time, and cancellation at the discretion of British authorities. Cancellation due to bad weather is not announced before 11am. Even when canceled, customers still see a ‘wet change’ during which the guards march but without the usual music and parade.

Amber, our tour guide, was awesome. Led our small group of 12 or so to the best viewing sights and explained events as they occurred through our earphone pieces. Great experience, highly recommend!

Amber was our guide for the small group Changing of Guard tour. She was amazing! I learned so much and saw much more than I ever would have on my own. Amber has a fabulous sense of humor, is so knowledgeable and personable. I would highly recommend Amber and this tour. As an added bonus, Amber was evil to let us know that members of the royal family were driving by, and we were able to see Charles and Camilla!

changing of Guard Walking Tour Worth It!

We had a great tour with Richard on the walking tour of the changing of the guard. The day we went, they did not do a full change of the guard. We viewed a shorter/smaller version. The guards were dressed in their winter wear. Along the route, Richard gave us history of statutes and buildings, Some of the highlights are the building where Prince Charles and Camilla live, where The Crown is filmed, a history story of Green Park and onto Buckingham Palace. So worth it! Good for older Teens and Adults. Not so much for small kids 10 and under.

This was the best tour! Phil, our guide, was high energy, told great stories and historical information and took us to the places we needed to be to see the guard, both old and new. I chose this tour because I wanted to be “behind the scenes” for this event. Phil didn't disappoint and was true to his word that we would literally be marching next to the Queen's Band! Thanks for a great experience! I highly recommend this tour!

Enjoyed this small group tour with Rosie. She had loads of information to share and knew the best places to take us to see what was actually happening. So glad we did the tour instead of just showing up at Buckingham Palace on our own trying to find a spot to see the ceremony. We wouldn't have gotten nearly as much out of the experience as we did going with Rosie!

Excellent tour. Learned a lot and enjoyed the entire 90 min. Our guide was very good and easy to find. Only request would be for smaller earbuds for kids.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour of the changing of the Guard led by the very knowledgable Nathan. Not only did Nathan direct us to the best viewing locations, but filled the time with wonderful stories of the history of the Royal Family and Buckingham Palace. With a great sense of humor, Nathan made this tour educational and fun!
