A great way to spend half a day

The tour was great. The Cambo Cruises team, were friendly, enthusiastic and spoke excellent English. The cruise up river was peaceful and slow and a commentary would have made it more interesting. Our tour guide on the island was both informative and entertaining. He showed us the silk-making process, the large fish found in the Mekong, to other exotic animals kept in the sanctuary, Was definitely not impressed with the caged animals that were kept there. Small, dirty cages and confined areas with no clean water. Would be good if the conditions can be improved for these animals at the earliest.

Everything about this was great! When we arrived, a Cambo Cruises employee quickly found us to guide us to where the ship was docking. On board, the staff was super friendly - actually the friendliest Cambodians we've interacted with in this country and I've lived here for 8 months. They spoke great English. They provided us a complimentary drink as soon as we departed that was unexpected and delicious. The food was amazing! There were only 6 of us on the cruise and it felt like a private excursion so the buffet service was closed. But when we wanted to share a 2nd serving of the yummy Khmer BBQ meats, they happily made more for us. The tour was great. Our tour guide was pleasant and the experience was both informative and entertaining. And the ferry itself was very relaxing. A great way to spend half a day.

Booked this as I had half a day spare so thought I might go and see what a silk farm is. I thought that perhaps this was just another on of those tourist traps designed to give you the bear minimum and then fleece you at the end with high priced goods. I was totally wrong, and instead found this tour to be one of the best I've taken, starts with a very serene and relaxing boat trip on the Mekong river while eating a very nicely cooked and large lunch. Then a 15 minute tuk-tuk ride during which one of the crew explains more about island life and the the Mekong river. Once at the farm, it;'s then onto a guided tour of the whole production cycle from eggs to finished product. The highlight for me was being able to chat with the ladies doing the weaving and learning more about the art of weaving by hand. Highly recommend this tour to anyone that is looking for a relaxing half day on the Mekong and learning about silk weaving. Added bonus is that the crew are just so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

A beautiful way to spend few hours on Mekong river and a visit to the island. Get to see how the local silk farmers live their lives... though the silk products they sell are priced about 5 times higher than the local markets in Phnom Penh so be warned! Lovely hosts and nice relaxing journey on the boat.

We paid for the Silk Island lunch cruise and tour package for 2. The cruise arrived on time and boarding was smooth. Cocktail was refreshing, albeit too sweet. The lunch was a disappointment and overpriced as it is a limited buffet with over cooked meat. There were no water served at the buffet and you have to buy your own. The cruise journey was smooth. The short journey on land to the silk farm was accomplished by tuktuk. The silk farm guided tour was interesting and we understand the process of silk making. After the obligatory silk purchase, we were brought back to the cruise for the return journey. In my opinion, the overall experience is not worth the price we paid and in Phnom Penh where prices in general are low, this overpriced 4-hour tour stood out like a sore thumb.

after a few others cancelled i was lucky enough to be the only customer for the day. the food was excellent, the cocktails were very good, and the tour of the Silk Island was absolutely fascinating. big thank you to Ten for accompanying me on the tuk tuk ride on the island and for the fun chat!

The food was fantastic and the guide was awesome. We were picked up late from our hotel but they profusely apologised even though it was due to a traffic jam. The tour was informative and showcased the creation of silk items. A must!

Was a fantastic trip, welcomed with a cocktail and lunch which was delicious and catered for all. Staff were accomadating and friendly. Tour guide was very interesting with lots of humor and learnt so much about silk. Worth a visit for sure!

Four stars may be being a little harsh because of circumstances - we had accidentally been to a silk operation two days earlier on a bike tour we didnt know we were and, because it was off season, we ended up on the cruise on our own as a group of four so perhaps lost some of the social elements. The Cambo Cruises team, who outnumbered us 10:4, were excellent and enthusiastic. The food was beautiful. The cruise up river was peaceful and interesting. Perhaps some commentary would have been interesting. The Silk Farm itself was eclectic - but in a good way. Our guide was informative and we learnt some new stuff. The extra feasts for the eyes which I will leave as a mystery were cute, cool and fun. Overall, a pleasant days outing.
